Olex launches new brandname, new fire rated cables
20 Aug 2010
Olex, Australia’s largest cable manufacturer, is changing its fire rated cable brandname from Pyrolex® to Alsecure® Premium. This is in keeping with other Nexans companies worldwide, and reflects the technology exchange at the heart of the Olex/Nexans relationship.
Olex has also announced the release of two new cables under the Alsecure® Premium brand.
The first is a new range of Ceramifiable® cables, Alsecure® Premium FRP, which are rated to WS51W under fire test standard AS/NZS 3013:2005. Being Ceramifiable, this LSOH range is the only Fire Rated multipair product available which does not require glass-mica tapes, thus reducing installation time, and eliminating the need for respirators and special gloves.
Olex Marketing Manager, Tony Kiernan, said the new cables have a variety of applications.
“In buildings, they can be connected to alarms, pumps, fans etc in fire services systems, which are vital for safe evacuation in the event of a fire. The screened design greatly reduces the possibility of interference affecting performance,” he said.
“And in industrial plants, they serve as instrumentation cables where signal integrity is critical during a fire.”
Also launched under the Alsecure® Premium banner is Alsecure® Premium Flex, a range of Ceramifiable® Fire Rated flexible single core products. Rated to 0.6/1kV, 110°C, and WS52W, this LSOH range of fire rated cables is the only flexible single core power cable which does not require glass-mica tapes, providing the same benefits outlined above.
Used in mains and sub-mains applications, these cables form the heart of commercial building power delivery, and keep on working in the event of a fire.
Manufactured in Australia by Olex, the above Alsecure® Premium cables are both independently tested and certified to AS/NZS 3013:2005.
